Learning and Teaching Plans

The Faculty’s corporate approach to teaching and learning is to be found in the FASS Teaching and Learning Plan. The Teaching and Learning Plan is devised by the Associate Dean (Education) and is framed against broader University desires and initiatives as expressed in the UNSW Teaching and Learning Plan.

The current FASS Teaching and Learning Plan expires at the end of 2007 and will be replaced by a new document. Click here.

The current UNSW Teaching and Learning Plan is available here.

The new School structure will see each of the Faculty’s five schools design and implement their own Teaching and Learning plans; again set against the directions provided by the Faculty and University plans.

Performance Indicators

The Faculty’s performance in Teaching and Learning is judged by the University against a set of criteria known as the Learning and Teaching performance indicators. In 2007 the University set five performance indicator categories. These were:

  • New staff participation in Foundations of Learning and Teaching
  • Quality of course outlines and extent of adherence to the UNSW Course Outline Template .
  • Implementation of the Course and Teaching Evaluation and Improvement (CATEI) Process
  • Development of Faculty/School Learning and Teaching Plans
  • Provision of an appropriate professional development program for sessional staff

The Faculty’s performance in this exercise has one very practical consequence and that relates to its share of funds distributed from the University’s success in the Federal Government’s Learning and Teaching Performance Fund grants.

The 2007 UNSW performance indicators document can be accessed here.

The FASS response to the 2007 performance indicators can be viewed here.
