Sessional Teaching
The Faculty and the University are very much aware of the important role sessional staff play in teaching and learning at UNSW. Whether they are casual part-time tutors or lecturers on session-length contracts the quality of teaching provided by these staff members is central to the student experience. In recognition of this, and the desire to provide sessional teachers with professional development opportunities, the Faculty provides sessional teacher training workshops. The workshops are facilitated by the UNSW Learning and Teaching Unit and usually consist of 3 x three hour workshops.
An excellent resource for new sessional staff at UNSW is the Learning and Teaching Unit’s publication Preparing for Teaching. This booklet is available in hardcopy from the Teaching and Learning Unit or online. Click here.
